DOES OSTEOPATHIC
TREATMENT HURT?
The aim of osteopathic treatment is to reduce the pain that you are experiencing,
not to increase it
AM I TOO OLD OR
IS MY CHILD TOO YOUNG FOR TREATMENT?
Age is not a barrier to treatment as the treatment is tailored to suit
individual needs
HOW MANY TREATMENT SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Until you are fully assessed through a consultation, this is difficult to answer. Some straightforward cases resolve in one or a few treatments. If a condition is complicated or has been going on for a very long time then more sessions might be necessary.
WHAT WOULD MY GP SAY?
Your GP may well have referred you. Osteopaths are musculoskeletal specialists and many GPs send patients with physical conditions to osteopaths for treatment. Where necessary, and with your permission we write to your GP informing them of your progress so that you receive the best care from all those involved in looking after your health.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS FROM TREATMENTS?
Generally, these are very rare. You might experience some tiredness a few days afterwards but this usually passes very quickly. Osteopathy is a very safe and effective form of treatment and most people feel a great deal better for it.
IS OSTEOPATHY ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE?
A recent parliamentary report described Osteopathy as "a distinct system of manual medicine in its own right". It is illegal to practice as an Osteopath unless properly trained and registered with the General osteopathic Council.
IS THERE A WAITING LIST FOR TREATMENT?
Appointments are usually made either on the day or within a couple of days of your call at most. We always aim to see you as soon as possible.
